Trail Description

This ride is about 2.7 kilometres long and links the Heritage Track with the Fosters Lookout, Easter Monday and Mc Laughlins Lookout area. The Lookout circuit follows the purple trail above with the exception of a leg veering off north east down New Otties Track from half way up this northwards run.

Otties Elevator is the northern half of the northwards leg shown above. Probably only good in the uphill direction for XCers and a short sharp section of 1:6 gradient for 700 metres gives you some serious altitiude gain for a short sharp walk (took 15-20 minutes while taking photos and I'm not super fit) but once you're up the steep bit there's a nice gradual climb to the top from thereon.

Lower Section From Lerderderg Road

Left photo taken with camera pointing horizontally. Bit deceiving in the photo but this is a 1:6 slope up here. Right hand photos show gradient looking across track - look at ground on left and right hand sides of photo to get an idea of gradient.

Still climbing before dropping out on a flatter though still climbing section for the remaining 2 kms.
